We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
You get an idea, and you just can’t wait. Once you’ve started, then you’re in there with the punches flying. There’s plenty of trouble, but you can handle it. You can’t back out. It gets you down once in a while, but it’s exciting. Our whole business is exciting.
The truth is that, in order to make progress, you need to physically and mentally fight against the momentum of ordinary events. The default state of any new idea is failure. It’s the execution–the fight against inertia–that matters.
A great idea solves multiple problems at the same time.
Apple captured 73% of phone industry profits and Samsung captured 26%. HTC took 1%. Everybody else lost money.
Get a good idea and stay with it. Dog it, and work it until it’s done and done right.
Everything that you do is a commodity. In many, many instances, the only difference between you and the next guy is how much you’re willing to sacrifice… your sleep, your social life… it’s not a healthy lifestyle, that of an entrepreneur, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
