Internet Explorer users 'have below-average IQ'
Like we didn’t know this already.
Internet Explorer users scored lower than average, while Chrome, Firefox and Safari users were very slightly above average. Camino, Opera and Internet Explorer with Chrome Frame were scored “exceptionally” high.
After 50 days, the Lulzboat has sunk, leaving only the one true internet ship sailing.
If you’re not hip to the LulzSec vs. Anon vs. Everyone war currently going down, this explains it pretty well. Hail Anon, down with LulzSec.

Anonymous’ IRC Operator Arrested
A minor blow to the Rebel Alliance, but surely a dozen others will fill his place. Strange times when 16 year olds can be considered commanders of armies, even the digital sort.
The local police announced that a 16 year old boy was arrested, suspected of being involved in the DDoS attacks on Wikileaks related targets.
The boy, whose identity was not released, will be heard in court today and has reportedly confessed to his involvement. According to several sources the arrestee is known online under the nickname Jeroenz0r.
The authorities have not yet confirmed this, but the person using this nickname has been ‘missing’ online for the past 24 hours, and has been involved with Operation Payback for quite a while. “Jeroenz0r and his server became delinked Thursday night at around midnight UTC time,” a source told TorrentFreak, confirming that the teenager lives in The Hague, where the arrest was made.
BitTorrent Based DNS To Counter US Domain Seizures | TorrentFreak
This is huge. Maybe one day, governments will realize that the Internet is a hydra unlike any ever seen; cut off one head, and four million more appear instantly.
To limit the power governments have over domain names, a group of enthusiasts has started working on a revolutionary system that can not be influenced by a government institution, or taken down by pulling the plug on a central server. Instead, it is distributed by the people, with help from a BitTorrent-based application that people install on their computer.
“By creating a .p2p TLD that is totally decentralized and that does not rely on ICANN or any ISP’s DNS service, and by having this application mimic force-encrypted BitTorrent traffic, there will be a way to start combating DNS level based censoring like the new US proposals as well as those systems in use in countries around the world including China and Iran amongst others.”
TODAY, GENTLEMEN, IS A GREAT DAY. I have been personally addressed by the @oldspice guy.
Bill Would Give President Power to Shut Down Internet
This must be stopped.
The federal government would have “absolute power” to shut down the Internet under the terms of a new US Senate bill being pushed by Joe Lieberman, legislation which would hand President Obama a figurative “kill switch” to seize control of the world wide web in response to a Homeland Security directive.

Google's "Experimental" 1Gbps Network
From Google:
We’re planning to build and test ultra high-speed broadband networks in a small number of trial locations across the United States. We’ll deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today with 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. We plan to offer service at a competitive price to at least 50,000 and potentially up to 500,000 people.
Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise: this is huge.
